On the 1st of February 2014, I
decided to go on another learning experiment. There were three major events
happening in Mumbai at that time.
1) 10 Day Kala Ghoda Arts Festival 2014
2) 6 Day Mumbai International Film Festival
3) 2 Day Zeitgeist Media Conference - St. Xaviers

Kala Goda Arts Festival is one of India’s top
arts festival, where several workshops, performances and events are held in the
fields of art, literature, music, dance, theatre, cinema, heritage and Indian
culture. Several stalls and street performances were also arranged throughout
the day there. There were at least 4-5 events held everyday, in each field
mentioned above. All these events were held at venues that were very close each
other in the KalaGoda area of South Mumbai. The festival was normally held in
the first week of February and the dates for the festival that year were from 1st
February to 9th February, 2014.
The Mumbai International Film Festival was a
government sponsored event held annually at the National Center for Performing
Arts in Mumbai. The festival was mainly for documentaries, short films and
animation movies. Film makers from all over the world came to Mumbai to
showcase their work in the above three categories. Over 300 films were to be
screened over six days between 3rd February to 9th
February.
The Zeitgeist Media Conference was organized
annually by the Department of Mass Media at the St Xaviers College, Mumbai.
Some of the most renowned journalists, writers, photographers, branding
experts, film makers were invited to discuss their work at the conference. It
was open to students from all colleges and was held on the 8th
February and the 9th February.
There was so much to learn and so less time. I
had to plan this out well, if I wanted to attend all the above events. This was
the schedule I settled on finally:-
1) 3rd February – Kala Goda Arts
Festival
2) 4th February – Kala Goda Arts
Festival (11- 6pm), Mumbai International Film Festival MIFF ( 7 pm to 10 pm)
3) 5th February – Kala Goda Arts
Festival – (12 pm to 10 pm)
4) 6th February – Mumbai International
Film Festival 10 am to 10 pm
5) 7th February – Mumbai
International Film Festival (10 am to 4 30 pm), Kala Goda Arts Festival ( 5 pm
to 10 pm)
6) 8th February – Zeitgeist Media
Conference
7) 9th February – Zeitgeist Media
Conference (10 am to 6 pm), Kala Goda Arts Festival Live Music Performance (7
pm to 10 pm)
This was going to be hard learning challenge to
accomplish, but if I made it happen, it could just be the greatest learning
accomplishment of my life.
